Isaac Omurwa, the younger brother of Africa 100 champion Ferdinand Omanyala, is gearing up for the East Africa under-18 and under-20 athletics championships to be held in Dar es Salam, Tanzania.

Omurwa will compete in the 100m and is confident of a win against a competitive field.

“I am just going for a win…at the moment, I am not focusing on the time I will post. I started training in January and I’m happy with the results,” Omurwa said.

At the second Athletics Kenya meet held over the weekend at the Nyayo National Stadium, the 18-year-old obliterated a strong field to win the under-20 men’s 100m final in 10.85.

Despite being his first competitive race, Omurwa was pleased with his win and hopes to invest more time on the track.

He emphasized the importance of utilizing his skills and maintaining a positive mentality in tough times, stating that athletics is his passion and he “just loves doing it.”

Omurwa also mentioned the impact of his brother’s success, believing there is hope for him and citing Omanyala as his role model.
